I wanted to share our success story with you to thank you for what you do! I was browsing sites and local shelters looking for a dog to add to our family. I came across a Pekingese named Dexter, who was being fostered in South Carolina. I fell in love with him instantly! When I heard his story, my heart just went out to him. He was found wandering a main highway, covered with fleas, matted and tangled/dirty fur, a skin infection, malnourished and a cataract in one eye due to an injury. He had what was called 'fur braces' which is fur wrapped around the teeth. It was so bad they though his teeth were black. Turned out once the got them cleaned he has nice white and healthy teeth with the perfectly adorable underbite. The rescue took him in and cleaned him up, gave him medicine to treat the infection and got him up to date on shots/testing and back to health. He was being fostered when I contacted the rescue, and after I heard about his personality, I just knew he was meant to be with us. After all, he has been through he is still just full of love and sweetness. My nine year old son and I took a weekend road trip to South Carolina to meet/adopt Dexter! It was love at first sight. He slept in adorably cute positions all the way home comfy on a fluffy blanket on the front seat. Dexter has become part of the family and fit in right away. He is still slightly underweight so he gets plenty of extra treats and cooked meat/rice with his wet and dry food. He snuggles up to me to sleep at night and gets loving all day long. I take him everywhere with me and he just loves it. He is now spoiled, loved and part of a family in his forever home. I cannot thank you enough for what you do, I honestly wish I could rescue each and every furry feathered and scaled sweetheart. They deserve to live happily and loved and you play a big part in making sure that happens to so many! So thank you, what you do is amazing. Thank you, Rescue Me!

I saw the post on a Monday night. I knew I really shouldn't get a new dog before my grandson's wedding because I would be out of town for several days and couldn't take a dog. I was home two hours and got the new email. I loved his looks right away and he lived 10 miles away!! I lost my Pekingese of almost 17 years and was really missing her. I emailed the owners the next day. They brought him over that night so we could meet and it was love at first sight! I had to get some new supplies so I picked him up at their home the next day! He is a charmer!! Everyone loves him. I thank Rescue Me for getting us together!

Rescue me sent an alert within two hours of Vera's post. The owner and I chatted immediately and she loved the idea of Vera comings to live with me and my senior Pekes. I promised her owner that I would send lots of pictures of her and keep her updated. It was not an easy decision for her previous owner, but she travels with her job and it was the best for Vera who is a very young 14 year old. Vera fits in great with my family. Thank you, Rescue Me. It's a great site for people to find each other whether they are re-homing or adopting a new family member.

I adopted Chewy from Jaime. This, after my very own Pekingese, Abi, passed away at the beginning of the year. I sent a message to Jaime letting her know I was interested in adopting Chewy and shortly after she replied and we started communicating. My husband and I are enjoying him because he's completely different than my previous Pekingese, who was sick most of his life with us. He is already attached to us and like his new home. And Jaime, his previous owner is being kept up to date with updates via Facebook. Thank you for creating Rescue Me and making it possible for me to have a new baby dog.

I was broken hearted over having to find a new home for my neighbors Pekingese. I helped care for them over the last seven years, but he was going into a retirement home. Due to circumstances such as my not having a fence and not being able to have one, but I just felt it was just too unsafe to keep them myself. I posted their information on Rescue Me (without pictures) and was contacted by several people. The lovely couple they ended up going to seem like a God send. I am thankful for Rescue Me. It helped find our Pekingese pups a new forever home where they will be loved.

We lost our Duke to an unfortunate accident. We missed our Duke and did not want our Duchess to be alone. We love Pekingese and considered buying from a breeder but did not feel right about it with so many other dogs needing a home. We located Dillinger on Rescue Me and fell in love as soon as we saw his picture. Duchess accepted him immediately, and he loves his new yard. He is a perfect fit for our family. We are so thankful that Rescue Me put us in contact with our new little fur baby.

I have actually adopted two pekingeses that were listed on Rescue Me, both are elderly and both have been a wonderful addition to our family. I love this site since all animals can be listed here - both shelter and personal posts. It was so easy to contact the owner and establish a relationship so that they could get to know me before the adoptions. The most recent adoption was Gucci. I pray all animals will be as lucky and find wonderful homes.

Ten years ago, after my little Peke girl, Amber, went over the Rainbow Bridge. I closed my heart to ever get another Peke or another dog for that matter. Then I saw this girl. My family and I are truly blessed to have our little one. I want to thank Rescue Me for posting her on your website. Her previous owners kept her outside for over four months on a hot patio. Her back-end was matted so much that she could not go to the bathroom. I saw her posted on your site, and I adopted her the next day. If it weren't for you, she might not have gotten adopted. They stated that her age was 10 and she was never spayed. It looks like she has had several litters. Right now, I am just trying to get her back to health. They found a tumor on her milk duct that they removed. Let me tell you guys, after all that she has been through, she is the most sweet and loving little girl there is!!! Thank you Rescue Me for bringing her into our lives.

I lost my 11 year old Peke a couple years ago. Ever since then, I've searched on this site. I saw Zippy and fell in love. My seven year old Peke was very lonely when he lost his sister and I've been searching for a playmate for him. When I brought Zippy home, Bruno was so happy. The two of them are playing and running around having a good ole time together. He has filled a void in my heart since I lost my other dog. I am disabled and spend a lot of time at home and these are not just pets they are like my children. I couldn't have asked for a better rescue. I am so lucky. He is housebroken, he is very playful, and likes to snuggle on the couch with me! He had no trouble settling in with the family. I am so glad, (and lucky) to have found Rescue Me and would recommend it to anyone looking to change their life! As we all know, adopting a pet is not just that, it is a life changing experience! Thank you Rescue Me for my new family member! We will spoil him rotten!!!

Though Fluffo is a senior doggie with health problems, she found a good home through Rescue Me. I am a senior with health problems of my own; herniated disks and chronic vertigo. I could no longer care for Fluffo and she was also in failing health; I didn't want to have her put to sleep. A nice senior man who had recently lost his Pekinese responded to my post. He said that his Peke had gone blind at the end and was also incontinent. He took Fluffo home to his rural property where she will get to live out the remainder of her life with love and dignity.

Zippy was adopted by a wonderful family. I absolutely love Rescue Me. All involved were respectful and accommodating. I had responses immediately. Of course, I always recommend due diligence because of the ugliness that is in the world. Even though Zippy came to me a stray, I felt an immediate responsibility for his safety. I would recommend this site and would use again.

I am thrilled to say I was so lucky to find my new girl, Zoei, on Rescue Me! I had been looking for a dog for a few months and I wasn't having much luck. I came to Rescue Me and saw a couple great dogs, but, sadly, they were gone before I could meet them. It was 'meant to be' for me to meet my Zoei!! I had Pekes as a teen and when I was first married, so I've always loved them! Thanks to Zoei's 'mom' for loving her enough to give her up! I made two forever friends!! I will certainly tell my friends who are looking for a 'furever friend' to check out Rescue Me!!

We are truly blessed and so happy to have Miko in our lives. Our beloved Pekingese, Enoki, passed away a couple months ago and my husband, myself and our other two Pekingese, Suki and Yoshi, were suffering with grief. As soon as we saw Miko's picture, he pulled at our heart strings and we just knew he would make a wonderful addition to our family. Miko is the sweetest little boy and makes us smile and laugh daily. He is so loved by us and his fur brother and sister. We are grateful to have him in our lives and to his previous owner for crossing us to be his new parents as this was a very difficult process for her. We have never adopted before and were excited to find Rescue Me. Thank you for what you do to give these beautiful animals second chances to be loved and cherished.

I adopted Munchkin when I saw the post on Rescue Me. I was looking for another Pekingese. I have two, but love this breed. I was looking for a young dog, but I read Munchkin's story. His mom passed away, he has a heart problem and other health issues. A neighbor was trying to place him but he was old and most shelters said he probably would not be adopted so he would then be euthanized. I could not let that happen. It's only been a week, but he's adjusting, but walks in every room. I think he's looking for his master. He is very sweet. So please adopt a senior dog. Give them the rest of their lives. It is very rewarding.

I found a home for my Pekingese the day after I posted him on Rescue Me. Thankfully, his new owner lives fairly close and will keep me informed of how he is adjusting. I did not want to put him down because he is so young, and I really did not want to give him up, but life circumstances forced my hand. I had tried for nearly two months to find him a home and just discovered this site on Saturday. On Sunday I had found him a new home!

I had never used this site before, so I am very happy that I found it during a Google search for Pekingese rescue organizations. Is it a Peke rescue site? No...it's even better. I was trying to find a home for Moshi, a gorgeous 4-year-old Peke I had fostered for several months last year. The home I placed him in last year did not work out, and I was at my wit's end. Having moved to a different apartment complex due to financial reasons, I could no longer have pets, which meant I could not take Moshi back and foster him for however long it took to find him a forever home. We had become very bonded during the fostering process, and it was breaking my heart to think that his owner was going to take him to a shelter. I had to do something. I must stress that rescuing is something I do on my own. I am not affiliated with any organizations. I've always loved animals, and when I see dogs and cats (and once a turtle!) that need a home, I try to help. Many of my acquaintances on Facebook are fellow animal lovers, and posts get shared and shared and shared and shared, but I have never seen the success I witnessed with Rescue Me. It was mind blowing. Within minutes of Moshi's adorable mug being posted on Rescue Me, I was receiving email after email -- from California, to Illinois, to Virginia. I couldn't believe my and Moshi's luck! Here were true dog lovers, with good homes, who had experience raising and loving dogs and were ready to adopt the little guy. After interviewing dozens of these kind-hearted folks, I found the perfect family for Moshi. He now has a Peke sister, almost exactly the same age, and two loving human parents who drove down to pick up the latest addition to their family. Rescue Me is the best -- I cannot stress that enough. I am so grateful that I am beside myself with joy. Rescue Me provided me, a family, Moshi, and his new sister, Sassy Peaches, with an honest to God happy ending. Thank you, Rescue Me. You rock!

I have been looking for a pekingese for only a short time... we lost our 13 year old last summer, and was only recently ready to open our hearts and home to another precious one. I received notification from Rescue Me! that a little one near my town was looking for a new home. I was able to contact the owner immediately and make arrangements to see Panda... or let her see me! She is the sweetest little thing ever! Her owner did such a wonderful job with her and I know was devastated to have to give her up. I feel I made an instant friend with both the owner and Panda! We live near each other so planning to take Panda to see her Mom, once Mom and Panda are settled into their new homes. Panda has brought such joy back into our lives and she has a brother pekingese and sister shi-tzu mix, both adopted, that love her just as much. She has fit in here beautifully, and we have fit into her life as well. She will continue to be well loved and we are ecstatic to have found her! Thank you for all Rescue Me! does, as there is no way way we would have connected even living 30 miles away!

This is truly a case of a life saved by Rescue Me! I adopted Maestro the day he arrived at the Humane Society. Within a few weeks, Maestro, who was nine months at the time, was diagnosed with Megaesophagus, an incurable birth defect. Because of his condition, Maestro requires lots of extra care, special feeding practices, and frequently regurgitates his food. He is a great dog, but way more than I could handle, I'm a traveling performer... after having no luck looking for alternative adoption agencies or foster programs locally, I turned to Rescue Me!, and within a few weeks found a perfect home for my little pal. It couldn't have come at a better time... my two roommates had just approached me that very night, saying that it really would be best to have my little friend put down, and that caring for him was too much! I pleaded with them, and thanks to Rescue Me! it happened! Thank you for helping me save a life.

Mitzi, our Peke will be going to WILDDOG Rescue this week, were there are families just waiting to adopt her. I got the email about 24 hours after posting on RESCUE ME! The site was very easy to use and helped me know what to look for in screening a person wanting to adopt/rescue my baby. I spent the last 4 weeks trying to find a home for her, but no one wanted a old dog so I thought maybe its her time to go. But then I found RESCUE ME! Thank you Jeff for creating this wonderful site!!! Denise

Precious found a wonderful family to share the rest of her life with. She made the transition reluctantly but she found a wonderful home and a mommy & daddy and little sweet boy to love her and help her through this transitional period. Thank you so much for giving Precious a new home and lot and lots of love.

Willy has moved into a loving home with another pekingese Emit and I am so excited for them both. Both are about two years old and the couple are retired and can spend many hours playing and loving the dogs.

Thanks to 'Rescue Me', our Pekingese 'Sable' found a loving forever home. We were able to advertise exactly what we required in an adoptive family and had many families who were interested and who fit the criteria. Sable is very happy in her new home. Thanks for such a wonderful service.

Giving my baby Ernie up for adoption was by far the most difficult thing I've done in life to date. However, recently he was adopted by the most amazing woman who is going to spoil him and give him everything he needs and deserves! I can't begin to say thank you for this website enough! I received multiple emails within the first few days of posting him on here and was able to find him the PERFECT home. Being able to post him to a Peke specific site really helped and made me feel at ease - it was so comforting knowing that the home he went to was familiar with the breed. I wasn't comfortable just giving him over to a shelter or relocating him long distance. This website allowed me to connect with potential 'families' for him and really make sure it was a good fit for him and his new family :)

Mason was adopted by a lovely lady who absolutely adores the pekingese breed. Mason will have a brother and sister pekingese to play with and be happy with!

Hi Jeff, Using Rescue Me was awesome! We had a pek-a-pom who really wanted to be a only child and his brother ( a dachshund) had way too much energy for him causing him to become territorial. With the help of Rescue Me, we were able to place our furry friend into a home with no other dogs where he can snooze and lounge in peace. Thank-You! Kari

Hello Jeff, We found the Pekinese Rescue Me site to be very helpful. It took a few months but when we started to get responses it was awesome. We had three inquiries in a row within two weeks. I like the specific breed rescues because people looking for that breed seem to have experience and they know the breeds individual 'quirks.' Thanks, Cathy

My Zoe was adopted by a special lady who has had Pekes all her life, currently has a 7 year old Peke and a 5 year old son. She read my story and it broke her heart (as it was mine) that unless I could find a new home for Zoe I would have to put her to sleep. Jenny has a love of animals and a huge heart, she offered to take Zoe to raise or just keep her until my son is done with his transplant and I'm able to come back home. It's been an extremely hard decision on my part as I've had Zoe since she was 5 weeks old but due to my current situation I could no longer take care of her and had no one else willing to take her as she is 15 years old, deaf, partially blind and wears a diaper for accidents. Thank you for making this site available, Jenny is truly a special lady. Denise Leslie

Hello Jeff, Less than 24 hours after posting a picture of Honey, I had a call from a family who wanted her. We scheduled a meeting and they all fell in love with each other. Honey was my mother's dog and accustomed to lavish attention when she came to live with us. My mother had to go into assisted living after dementia from a traumatic brain injury left her unable to live alone or with us. I kept Honey as long as my mother remembered her, but one day when I mentioned the dog, my mother replied 'What dog?' She had forgot she ever had this little dog. Our family was never able to shower the dog with the attention she deserved. Her new family has three older children and a husband and wife who really wanted another Pekingese, their's having met a tragic accident. This was a perfect experience for me, but more importantly for Honey. I have made a small donation to your site. I wish it could be more. Thank you again, Debra

Hi There, Just wanted to drop you a line regarding the new additions to our family due to the rescue me.org site. I was planning on being a foster mom to any Pekingese sweeties in need. But yesterday i received notification via email from rescueme.org that their were two in need here in nevada. I called immediately and to my surprise they were 1 mile away from my home. So i went to go visit, bringing my two pekes with me of course. Long story short.... I have a very hairy family of 4 now !!!! Anyone reading this please help if you can... too many animals in need...... I believe they have souls like us and just want to be loved and feel secure as we do!!!!

Hello, Patches found a new home within a few days of the posting! I was extremely happy! I'd tried Petfinder but only heard from scam artists and a few people a state or 2 away. Using your site for GA only was extremely helpful! And I LOVE the family who adopted her! I have another Pekingese on your site, Festus, so I'm hoping we'll have the same success. I would be glad to donate to your site because it's been the best place so far to advertise my dogs. I'd spent days/nights/and many hours researching sites and rescue shelters and yours has been the best yet! When Festus finds a home, Thank you again so much!! Diona Edmondson
