|Rescue Me ID: 16-04-20-00498Joker (male)|
Date into Rescue: 02/25/2016 Reason for being in rescue: owner turn in to local shelter Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Joker suffers from dry eye syndrome and will need cyclosporine eye drops everyday for the rest of his life. Weight: est 14 lbs Height: about 12 inches at shoulder Adoption Fee: $169 Fence needed? no Joker's story is a sad case of owner neglect. He was turned into the shelter a matted mess with his eyes crusted over and sealed shut. The dirt and grime around his eyes eventually led to infection which caused damage to his vision. Joker ended up losing his left eye and can only see a little out of his right. Despite his hardships, Joker doesn't let them get him down. He enjoys being out of his crate exploring and wandering around. He sometimes bumps into furniture and stuff, but overall has no trouble getting around and even climbs up and down stairs! Joker is also affectionate, and loves a good belly rub! Joker gets along well with everyone including other dogs and cats and he is looking for a new home with someone that can properly care for him and his needs. He does have dry eye and will need eye drops for the rest of his life. He will also need to be groomed regularly to keep the hair around his eyes short and clean. Joker is very well behaved and gives us no trouble with grooming or the eye drops. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: reported age was 9 years old so birthdate about 2/23/2007 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
