Rescue Me ID: 14-10-25-00394Pepper Peke (male)

Pekingese Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pepper was born July 21, 2011 and weighs about 15 lbs. He is just adorable and obviously lots of Pekingese in there, but said to be mixed with a little Beagle. This little fluffer nutter is good on leash and fine in the car. He loves to snuggle and it's so much fun to run your fingers through his gorgeous, thick, fur. He's doing fine with the other dogs. What landed him here originally? He 'nipped at my daughter because she was playing rough'. So maybe older, considerate, kids will be necessary in his future. However the second owners had him around children and he did just fine. We've found nothing no nippy behavior whatsoever. He ... (Read More)found a 'forever home' about a year ago only to end up here once again. Why this time? Well, they stated they couldn't house train him and said they 'tried everything, even putting him in a crate ONE night'. They never mentioned this to us and never asked for suggestions. Maybe they were going on a vacation and returning him was just easier. We advise crate training to house break and it has been a tried and true method. He's a wonderful little guy that did not deserve to be dumped again. We will be working on this and know there is someone out there that will put forth the effort to properly house train him and you will be so glad you did. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-25-00390Harley Reed (male)

Pekingese Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Harley was born about June 14, 2007 and weighs about 20 lbs. He is with us because his human Mom died and his Dad was loosing the house so neither one of them had a home to go to any longer. We are told he is house broken, leash trained, good with kids and other pets. He has lived, all these years, with another dog and we understand most people don't want to adopt two dogs together, but we do try, in these situations, to adopt into a home with another dog that will be his new friend. Just like us, we don't always get to go through life with the same partner, so we find a new one. We've found Harley to be just one happy-go-lucky little ... (Read More)guy! His butt wiggles with a glance in his direction and he loves toys, squeaky toys and treats! The 'Reed' group of dogs came from a high kill pound in TN. Since we've been going to this shelter, for the last several months, they have not had to kill for space or time served. It had been five weeks since we were there and they begged us to come back as they were down to the wire and needed us desperately. So, once again, our Facebook fans came to the rescue and donated close to the amount that we needed to be able to make the journey. Thank you all SO much and thanks to Katie who makes this 26 hour round trip in about 36 hours - good thing she's young!!!! (Less)
