Animal ID: 14-11-1300531Fluffo (female)

Pekingese Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Blind,
 Incontinent

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Fluffo is a wonderful little (12 lbs) Mostly Pekinese girl. She is a senior, probably 10 years old or more. Her left eye is very small and probably blind, the right eye has swollen in the last 3 weeks and is red; it appears to be blind now. She is not completely incontinent, but is urinating frequently and not always on her pad. I had her to the vet today and spent all of my savings $300 to get the tests done that I could afford. The vet couldn't give any info on the eye. She does appear to have the beginnings of kidney disease. I cannot afford further testing or treatment. I received her as a ... (Read More)rescue dog in February of 2013. She is very shy, rarely barks and is quite content to just be in the room with people without actual contact. She doesn't play, probably never learned how. She is having trouble walking now; her back legs seem quite weak. She still wakes up happy and loves to eat and especially loves Puparoni treats. She likes Honey Nut Cheerios as a treat also. I am in the Las Vegas area until Saturday, Nov. 15; then we will return to Alaska. I would like to place Fluffo with a person or rescue group that can afford to continue with her vetting. She can have many more years of life and be a wonderful companion if she can get the testing and treatment she needs. (Less)

lnteresting Pekingese Trivia Low-Cost Nevada Spay & Neuter Clinics
The Pekingese was once believed to be able to ward off evil spirits. Historically, the theft of a Pekingese in China was punished by death. All modern Pekingese are descended from five dogs rescued for Queen Victoria during the Second Opium War. When British troops reached the residence of the Chinese Emperor, the guards killed all but these five dogs to prevent them falling into the hands of the enemy.
