Rescue Me ID: 14-06-05-00025Mario (male)

Pekingese Mix    Age: Senior

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Mario is a 10+ year old pekingese. I have recently had him shaved down for the summer. He has dry eyes that need medicine every day for the rest of his life. It is not expensive-less than $20 a month. His eyes are not functioning well and the vet feels he has very little sight. He is fine once he maps out the house and knows where everything is located. He is very sweet except when it is eye drop time he can be feisty....you just have to go slow. Likes to sleep in a crate with a few blankets and the door open. Very easy going and a joy to be around. Email for an application. Thank you.

lnteresting Pekingese Trivia Low-Cost Connecticut Spay & Neuter Clinics
The Pekingese was once believed to be able to ward off evil spirits. Chinese were once required to bow down to Pekingese. All modern Pekingese are descended from five dogs rescued for Queen Victoria during the Second Opium War. When British troops reached the residence of the Chinese Emperor, the guards killed all but these five dogs to prevent them falling into the hands of the enemy.
