When Gina's rescuer walked this gorgeous and oh- so- gentle Shih Tzu down the path behind the high-kill shelter, she was stopped over and over by other walkers inquiring, 'what kind of dog is that?' and 'oh my, she's the cutest dog I've ever seen...could she be from that awful shelter?' It's true...Gina is unusual in color with eyes that make you melt when she looks at you in that loving way. She is an extremely eye-catching Shih Tzu (maybe with a touch of Pekinese in her mix that makes her so striking) that would be the perfect lap dog and best companion for a lucky family. When she turns that SO gentle look in your direction, you can't ... (Read More)help but be mesmerized by her wise and soulful gaze. It speaks of a difficult time for such a low-maintenance and flexible dog who was slated for euthanasia...but saved by New Mexico rescuers who recognized Gina's goodness and the gift she would give to a lucky family. Gina is about 5.5 - 6 years old (the prime of life for a small girl like Gina who can live a very long life span of 16 or 17 years) and weighs about 10 lbs. Farfel's is searching for an adult family for's not that she doesn't like kids...we just feel she'll be more comfortable and settled with adults. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this lap dog extraordinaire. She would thrive on the time and attention that they would share. Gina is so loyal and kind that it makes her very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. She would be mesmerized by the paths and walkways of Colorado and would love leisurely walks with her special people. Gina would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who could be gentle playmates but this isn't necessary for her happiness. She would be overjoyed with being the one and only..Gina would be a loyal and devoted best friend!. Gina has a caramel-colored shed-free coat that will be cottony-soft and silky with excellent nutrition and periodic grooming. This will be necessary on a periodic basis to keep Gina's coat healthy and matt-free. Gina will be arriving on transport in Denver on 9/27. If interested in this sweet and beautiful Shih Tzu, please fill out an application at and submit to (Less)

lnteresting Pekingese Trivia Low-Cost Colorado Spay & Neuter Clinics
The Pekingese was once believed to be able to ward off evil spirits. Chinese were once required to bow down to Pekingese. All modern Pekingese are descended from five dogs rescued for Queen Victoria during the Second Opium War. When British troops reached the residence of the Chinese Emperor, the guards killed all but these five dogs to prevent them falling into the hands of the enemy. Pekingese were believed to protect the soul of their master in the afterlife.
